Tombstone Tuesday: Headstones with a Nautical Theme

Yesterday on my family history blog I shared the story of one of the mariners in my family tree, so I thought it was fitting on this Tombstone Tuesday to post images I've taken of headstones with a nautical theme. Only one of the stones featured here is for an actual mariner, an Admiral, but the other two are fine expressions of the idea that the deceased was the anchor of the family.

The stone reads:

The stone reads:

'Oh for the touch of a vanished hand...': Alice Stuart 1852 - 1892

The stone reads:

Erected

S.W. Stuart, Dublin

In Affectionate

And Loving Memory of

His Beloved Wife

Alice

Who died 27th March 1892.

Aged 40 years

Oh for the touch of a vanished hand

and the sound of a voice that is still.

I heard the voice of Jesus say
